DPNet Gandaki Province Celebrates DPNet Day with Monsoon Preparedness Initiatives

  Aug 01, 2026

8th June, 2026: Pokhara, Gandaki Province: The Disaster Preparedness Network Nepal (DPNet Nepal), Gandaki Province, marked DPNET Establishment Day by organizing and supporting a series of activities focused on strengthening monsoon preparedness, stakeholder coordination, and disaster-response capacity in the province.

As part of the celebration, DPNet Gandaki Province organized a radio interaction programme through Radio Safalata. The discussion highlighted the importance of timely monsoon preparedness and emphasized that disaster risk reduction and emergency response are shared responsibilities of government agencies, humanitarian organizations, the private sector, local communities, and individuals.

The radio programme also encouraged communities to remain informed about weather forecasts and early warnings, identify local risks, prepare emergency plans, and coordinate with relevant authorities before and during monsoon-related emergencies.

DPNet Gandaki Province also actively participated in and provided technical support to a Monsoon Response Tabletop Simulation Exercise held in Pokhara. The exercise was jointly facilitated by Nepal’s security agencies, the Nepal Red Cross Society, DPNet Nepal, and the Chamber of Commerce.

The simulation provided participating stakeholders with an opportunity to review their respective roles, communication mechanisms, coordination procedures, and response actions during possible monsoon emergencies. It also helped participants identify operational gaps and improve their practical understanding of coordinated disaster response.

The activities enhanced awareness, institutional coordination, and preparedness among stakeholders involved in monsoon response across Gandaki Province. Through these initiatives, DPNet Gandaki Province reaffirmed its commitment to promoting collaborative, inclusive, and effective disaster preparedness and response mechanisms for safer and more resilient communities.
