The joint organization of DPNet-Nepal, DiMaNN, FECOFUN, FEDWASUN, NFIWUAN, Practical Action Consulting, and NSET held a webinar on January 21, 2021, titled "The Role of Civil Society Organizations in Ensuring Earthquake Safety during Complex Emergencies." The program was part of the nationwide events organized throughout the country to commemorate the 23rd Earthquake Safety Day.
The virtual event titled "Announcement of Essay Competition Results and Essay Presentation" was held on December 24, 2020, organized by DPNet-Nepal. The essay competition, centered around "Disaster Risk Governance" in Nepal, was organized by the National Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (NPDRR) to commemorate IDDRR 2020. The competition welcomed participation from university students pursuing Bachelor's and Master's degrees. Mr. Surya Bahadur Thapa, Chairperson and Member Secretary of NPDRR, presided over the virtual program. Mr. Anil Pokhrel, Executive Chief of National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority and Chairperson of NPDRR, graced the event as the Chief Guest.
A Virtual Discussion Program on Exploring the Potential of Shock-Responsive Social Protection in Nepal was coordinated by DPNet-Nepal and organized by Save the Children International, Atullya Foundation, CBDRM Platform, IFRC, and SPCSN on December 23, 2020. The program had 104 participants and was graced by the presence of Honorable Dr. Ram Kumar Phuyal, Member of the National Planning Commission (NPC), as the Chief Guest, and Mr. Bishnu Dutta Gautam, Joint Secretary of MoFAGA, as a Special Guest.
The joint organization of the Policy Dialogue program on Landslide Management in Nepal: Challenges and Opportunities involved DPNet-Nepal, Institute of Himalaya Risk Reduction, Nepal Engineer's Association, and Bagmati Province on December 19, 2020. The program was chaired by Er. Nanda Lal Banjade, the President of Nepal Engineer's Association, and attended by Dr. Ganga Lal Tuladhar, a former Education Minister and DRR&M expert, as the chief guest. Additionally, Mr. Surya Bahadur Thapa, Chairperson of DPNet-Nepal, and Prof Dr. Tri Ratna Bajracharya, President of Nepal Engineers' Association, participated as special guests.
A virtual discussion program entitled "Towards shock responsive social protection and forecast based action/financing" was coordinated by DPNet-Nepal and organized by Atullya Foundation and Save the Children on 3rd December 2020.
Kathmandu, Nepal - In a significant milestone for Nepal's disaster risk reduction efforts, the Nepali version of the Sphere Handbook 2018 was officially launched on 2nd December 2020. The launch program, organized by the Disaster Preparedness Network Nepal (DPNet), gathered 103 participants representing government and non-governmental agencies, with the majority being humanitarian practitioners working in the field of disaster risk reduction.
